Slack integration
Start and guide Inspect work from the conversations where requests originate.
Connect Slack
Add Inspect to a Slack channel, then link the channel to the appropriate Team or Project. Linked context helps Inspect understand which repositories, resources, and instructions apply.
Invoke with a mention
Mention @Inspect and write the request in the same message. A mention is best when you want to add instructions, define scope, or ask a direct question. Inspect starts a session and replies in a thread.
Invoke with :inspect-this:
Add the :inspect-this: reaction to an existing message when that message already contains the complete request. The reaction starts a session from the message and its available thread context. Add a mention instead when Inspect needs extra instructions.
Screenshots and attachments
Include screenshots, recordings, PDFs, and other attachments in the message or thread. Explain what the attachment demonstrates and the expected behavior. Inspect can inspect supported files and carry them into the session as evidence.
Collaborate in the thread
Reply in the Inspect thread to answer questions, change priorities, or request another pass. Teammates can collaborate in the same thread, and the linked web session provides the complete conversation, tool activity, diff, and deliverables.
Real-life examples
From feedback: react with :inspect-this: on a detailed bug report that already includes reproduction steps and a screenshot.
From discussion: mention Inspect in a thread: “Summarize the two options discussed here, check the current implementation, and recommend the smallest path.”
Collaborative delivery: start a change from Slack, answer Inspect’s clarification in-thread, then open the web session to review the live diff.
